en.hengqin.gov.cn, the official online gateway of Hengqin New Area, contains a wide range of comprehensive information about the island's general situation and latest development.

A 106.46-square-kilometer coastal island tucked into the southern corner of the city of Zhuhai in Guangdong province, Hengqin was designated as a national-level new area in December 2009. It was recently included into the newly approved China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone in order to enhance economic ties with Hong Kong and Macao.

Many experts and officials believe that the island will have great potential in future and will benefit from the favorable policies brought about by the establishment of the Guangdong Free Trade Zone in December 2014.

Most of the key infrastructure on the island is either already built or under construction, and business opportunities in the district are opening to the world. Given these circumstances, we have created this online gateway to provide you with sufficient news and facts that will allow you to gain a better understanding of the area. In addition to being a financial and business hub, the island – which is no more than 200 meters away from Macao – is poised to become a global tourism and leisure center and a platform for trade between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.

We have divided the contents of the site into several sections focusing on the island's profile, economy, culture and lifestyle, travel and government service. We have also listed some FAQs about how to invest in Hengqin. We hope the Web page can bring you some fundamental understanding of Hengqin, and we welcome your suggestions.
