The construction of the Guangdong-Macao Traditional Chinese Medicine Technology Industrial Park in Hengqin New Area has made significant progress since 2015 in hardware and platform building, attracting projects and investments and promoting international exchange and cooperation, Nanfang Daily reports.
As the first landing project under the Framework Agreement of Cooperation Between Guangdong and Macao, the park is an important carrier and platform for Macao to promote the diversified development of its economy.
The GMP Pilot Plant, Testing and Certification Building and Testing and Certification Building in the park are expected to be put into use in the second half of 2017. The Incubator Building is expected to be completed in 2018.
"All the construction inside the park is going smoothly, and some projects will finish construction ahead of schedule," said Zhan Siping, manager of engineering and logistics department of the park's development company. Currently five top-notch construction companies with around 700 construction workers are involved in the park's construction.
The functions and designs of the park projects go in line with the high standards certified by China and EU-GMP, Zhan added. Different from ordinary parks, the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) industry has higher requirements for its facilities.
The park, covering 500,000 square meters, aims to become the international quality control base for TCM as well as a communication platform for worldwide health industries.
So far, the park has reached cooperative plans on 57 projects, 22 of which are from Macao.
