With this year's launch of Zhuhai's Yuanmeng Plan, it is projected that about 350 workers are to receive tuition subsidy totaling 1.4 million yuan for higher education. Peking University, Renmin University of China, Beijing Postal and Telecommunications University and Wuhan University of Technology will cooperate with Zhuhai and offer 2.5-5-year-long undergraduate programs for the workers.

A highlight of this year's plan is that workers from Hong Kong and Macao are also applicable for the plan. After passing the necessary exams, they can also gain subsidies. As a part of the cooperation deal, Beijing Postal and Telecommunications University is expected to offer programs for 20 workers from Hong Kong and Macao.

The tuition is set at 5000 yuan per person (1000 yuan more if admitted to Peking University), of which 4000 yuan is offered by the government. In other words, each worker needs to only pay 1000 yuan for their undergraduate program (1000 yuan more if admitted to Peking University).
