Hengqin's post-doctoral scientific research work station has received approval from the Office of China Postdoctoral Council to recruit and cultivate post-doctors from Hong Kong and Macao, chinanews.comreports, citing the managing committee of the Hengqin New Area. The workstation is also the first of its kind in China's free trade zones and in southern China's Zhuhai City.
China has the intention to encourage exchanges and cultivation among post doctors from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao by setting up such a workstation in Hengqin, which is geographically close to Hong Kong and Macao, said Deng Lianbing, director of the Hengqin branch of the Office of China Postdoctoral Council.
"With this station, Hengqin can better attract high-end talents. We will explore the mode of recruiting doctors from Hong Kong and Macao. In the meantime, we will strengthen the communication among outstanding tutors and mainland doctors and enhance the integration of talents from the mainland, Hong Kong and Macao," said Deng.
In the future, Hengqin will explore how to integrate with foreign post-doctoral policies, promote communication and cooperation between doctors from the mainland and abroad in order to cultivate more high-end young innovative talents serving Hengqin's innovation-driven development strategy, Deng added.
The workstation will recruit 40-50 post doctors in 2017. A series of activities will also be held in Hengqin to let them learn more about the area.
