Hengqin will establish a special fund of 200 million yuan (about US$30 million) to help the post-disaster recovery of the local construction industry based on a relevant subsidy method issued on Aug. 30, Nanfang Daily reported.

Typhoon Hato and Typhoon Paka recently affected over 43,000 people living in the Hengqin New Area, causing economic loss estimated ataround 2.7 billion yuan. A total of 137 construction sites were damaged to varying degrees.

The fund will mainly subsidize the repair or replacement of tower cranes, building hoists, prefabricated houses and package transformers damaged by the typhoons.
