Queuing for hours with a bunch of materials at hand at the tax service hall has become a thing of the past due to the availability of a new cross-border electronic tax receipt in Hengqin. Now it only takes about 10 minutes to finish all tax-paying procedures on your smart phones, which previously could take up to half a day.

The electronic tax receipt was put into trial use in Zhuhai, Foshan and Hengqin in February. Currently it is universally available in Guangdong Province. This move is expected to bring convenience to 1,488 companies invested by Hong Kong and Macao as well as 1,500 Hong Kong and Macao residents working in Hengqin.

A virtual tax-paying service system, V-TAX, will be launched in two months for better regulation of cross-border tax services. Tax payers could pay taxes through PC or other mobile devices via the V-TAX. Once complete, the electronic tax receipts will be e-mailed back. In this way, they don't need to print or mail receipts at the service hall.

According to Hengqin Local Taxation Bureau, the use of electronic tax receipts will further integrate cooperation and development because electronic receipts lower the tax-paying cost for companies and the administrative cost for customs, thus increasing efficiency.
